At the crossroads of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary requirements,Contemporary Furniture Workshop Rethinks the work of wood and related materials to produce unique parts, amenities.
Driven by the encounter between know-how, design and innovation, the workshop is a place of experimentation where each project unfolds as a territory to explore: furniture, spaces, singular objects, as many answers shaped in the matter.
Here, the gesture feeds on the precision of modern tools and the richness of ancestral techniques. Always in search of new forms, materials or assemblies, we refuse the hierarchy between drawing and manufacture, between idea and realization.
LContemporary Furniture Workshop is an open dialogue space — between architects, designers, artists, artisans and sponsors — where each detail counts, where matter becomes language, and where projects find their right balance between form, function and context.
Origin of the workshop
LContemporary Furniture Workshop was founded in Paris by Bernard Mauffret, artisan with a singular course, passed through the frame at the Companions du Devoir, architecture, the invoice of percussion instruments, the design of wooden boats and design. Very early, he developed a transversal look at manufacturing, both technical and sensitive. The workshop is born from this approach: a place dedicated to the design and prototyping of contemporary furniture, in direct connection with designers, artists and institutions.
His collaboration with the National Furniture since the 2000s and his own furniture line — Of which the table Cleanawarded in 2005 — embody this will to unite structure, use and expression.
In 2025, the workshop was taken over by a new team, formed for several years by Bernard Mauffret, in a spirit of continuity and openness. LContemporary Furniture Workshop Today continues its activity with the same requirement of tailor-made, between contemporary creation, retail culture and technical research.
